India witnesses Bal Diwas on 14 November, while Nepal celebrates Bal Divas on 14 September, which coincides with 29 Bhadra 2082. It is the 61st National children’s day in Nepal.

Theme or Slogan of Bal Diwas 2082

There is no theme for Bal Diwas 2025 yet. However, a common slogan for the day is “Child Friendly Governance, Respect to Child Rights,” which translates in Nepali as ‘बाल मैत्री शासन, बाल अधिकारको सम्मान.’ This aims to provide children with friendly assistance at all stages of life. Some other themes for the day include;

• Providing education and opportunities
• Celebrating innocence, imagination, and creativity.
• Ensuring children’s safety and protection
• Eradicating child labor and exploitation

Significance of Bal Diwas

Nepal celebrates National Children’s Day as an anniversary of the day when Nepal signed and approved the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1990. It has committed to child rights and celebrates Bal Diwas on 29 Bhadra since 1990 AD or 2063 BS.

India, on the other hand, celebrates Bal Diwas as the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, who was also the first Prime Minister of India, and was dedicated to the betterment, education, and rights of children.

No matter what the reason for the celebration is, the main purpose of Bal diwas is always to commit to the rights, development, and participation of children.

The day is also a cause to celebrate with different social activities like quizzes, contests,  cultural performances, games, and much more that help in boosting a child’s confidence. Schools can organize drama, drawing competitions, fancy dress, and other activities for the celebration. While communities can opt for health camps and awareness programs for the betterment of children.
